DELOREAN TIME MACHINE FAQ’s
1. What is the DeLorean Time Machine?
The DeLorean Time Machine is a modified DeLorean DMC-12 sports car built by Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown that can travel through time.
2. Why was a DeLorean chosen?
The filmmakers chose the DeLorean because its futuristic gull-wing doors made it look like something from another world, especially to people in the 1950s.
3. Who invented the time machine?
In the story, Doc Brown invented it after envisioning the Flux Capacitor following a fall in his bathroom on November 5, 1955.
4. What is the Flux Capacitor?
The Flux Capacitor is the key component that makes time travel possible. Without it, the DeLorean is just a car.
5. Why does it have to reach 88 mph?
The DeLorean must reach 88 mph (142 km/h) to trigger temporal displacement and travel through time.
6. Why exactly 88 mph?
There is no deep scientific explanation in the films. The filmmakers reportedly chose 88 because it looked good on the speedometer.
7. How much power does the time machine need?
It requires 1.21 gigawatts of electricity to power a time jump.
8. What powered the DeLorean originally?
At first, the time machine used plutonium to generate the energy needed for time travel.
9. What is Mr. Fusion?
Mr. Fusion is the compact power generator added in the future that allows the DeLorean to create energy from household waste.
10. Can the DeLorean fly?
Yes. After being upgraded in 2015, it gains hover-conversion technology and can fly instead of driving on roads.
11. Is the DeLorean a real car?
Yes. The DMC-12 was a real production vehicle manufactured by the DeLorean Motor Company in the early 1980s.
12. How many DeLoreans were used in the movies?
Several DeLoreans were acquired for filming, including separate vehicles for stunts, special effects, and close-up shots.
13. Is time travel in the DeLorean scientifically possible?
No. The DeLorean's time-travel system is fictional and was created for entertainment rather than real science.
14. What are the Time Circuits?
The Time Circuits let the driver enter a destination date and display:
Destination Time
Present Time
Last Time Departed
15. What happens when the DeLorean time travels?
It disappears in a flash of light, leaves fiery tire tracks behind, and instantly arrives at the selected date and time.
16. Why is the car covered in frost after time travel?
The films show the DeLorean becoming extremely cold after a jump, causing frost to form on its exterior.
17. Could the DeLorean travel anywhere in time?
The Time Circuits can be programmed with dates, allowing travel to the past or future within the limits of the system shown in the films.
18. Was the DeLorean destroyed?
Yes. At the end of Back to the Future Part III, the main DeLorean is destroyed by a locomotive.
19. Is the original movie DeLorean still around?
Yes. One of the restored screen-used DeLoreans is preserved and displayed as a significant piece of movie history. The vehicle was added to the National Historic Vehicle Register in 2021.
20. Why is the DeLorean Time Machine so popular?
It combines an iconic car design, a memorable movie trilogy, creative sci-fi concepts, and one of the most recognizable vehicles in film history.
Bonus question:Can I buy a real DeLorean Time Machine?
You can buy or build replica DeLorean Time Machines, but none can actually travel through time.

SINCLAIR C5 HIRE
Sinclair C5’s at the Queen Jubilee - BBC News
Introducing the Sinclair C5
The Sinclair C5 is a small one-person battery electric velomobile, technically an "electrically assisted pedal cycle".
It was the culmination of Sir Clive Sinclair's long-running interest in electric vehicles. Although widely described as an "electric car", Sinclair characterised it as a "vehicle, not a car".
Powered by a 12-volt lead acid battery, the C5 had a claimed range of 20 miles - enough to cover many people’s commutes to work - but it could only travel at legal 15mph using its Hover 250 Watt Motor
